  • Brembo's on front, and stock fronts on rear?

i'm thinking about installing brembos up front. my car stops pretty good right now with the "brakemotive" cermaic pads and drilled/slotted rotors all around. but after one day at the track, and about 2000 miles of driving, i've already got hot spots on my rotors. i have gotten on the brakes pretty hard from about 150ish to 100ish a few times. i've been told putting brembos up front is a world of difference. i was thinking if i do that, can i swap the front brakes to the rear? anybody that has done this, let me know! also, what kind of price range am i looking at to install brembos up front? about 1k?

I'd spend your money on GOOD tires first and a GOOD set of pads and rotors. That will make a big difference. I have the same LS1 brake set-up all the way around on my IROC and they work fine when I get on them hard....granted I don't drive around like an idiot at 150mph, just saying....tires,pad,rotors make a big difference.

No, you cant swap the front brakes to the rear without alot of fab work, plus you would lose your parking brake doing that anyways.

Yes, the Brembo's will help, but they are not the cheapest solution.

I did vette brakes up front and love them. Our stock rears are the same as the vette ones, and are plenty for most people. Drilled and slotted rotors give you less breaking surface, and chew up pads. You'll have more bite with a set of QUALITY blanks and some good pads.

I also know that OVRKILL is doing/has done a CTS-V Brake claiper conversion. It is supposedly a bolt-on set up, but I cant find the calipers.

I'd check on that number. I suspect it's a little low.

I would have done the CTSV setup, but you have to run 18s for that

what this guy said.. you already said your tires were junk anyway.. so they are not helping you at all..

True Brembos will be well north of 1k. IF you can find "V" brakes, you can do it for less than that.

I paid about $650 for new calipers, brembo cross drilled rotors and SS lines......but I shopped for awhile. Deals are out there if you're patient.

its not like i drive around at 150 every day. but i've hit it a few times. its got the brand new pads and rotors on it. the tires were good too. like i said, my car seems to stop fast, but i already have hot spots. i havent felt any brake fade yet or anything, but i'm getting into the road racing deal and i dont want to have any issues..

i havent seemed to have an issue with the pads wearing out yet (but i've only gone about 2k miles). i'm mostly concerned about brake fade. i have dot 4 fluid, and these brakes, but i see hot spots on the front rotors. wont "good quality" pads and rotors fade out once they heat up? like i said, i'm getting into the road course thing and cant have brake fade.

Silly question, did you season your rotors and bed the pads before "road racing" on them?
