ls1 engine issue's. any ideas

    ls1 engine issue's. any ideas

    well allan called me today and said he is still having a problem that has me stumped. the only thing i can think of is windage or even a bad balancer. so give me some ideas how to help him out i have never had this issue out of a ls1 and iv done about 7 of them.

    ok heres the problem. for some reason even after 2 new front harmonic seals this engine is leaking engine oil around the front of the engine, and it gets progressively worse the higher the rpm's ( sounds like windage). how ever they are for some reason feeling vibrations also. this engine still has factory balancer and, i know they are prone to going bad but the car has alittle over 100k on it. i can't see it going bad already. even though its is possible. allan said it was wharing the assesory drive belt kinda funny. iv also heard of needing to up-date the harmonic bolt but never have on such a mild engine. dose anyone have any idea's? allans a good guy and i gotta get this thing right for him....

    Did you seal the oil pan to the timing cover? In the write-up that I've followed they have you use a sealer there on top of the gasket.

    Did you use a new harmonic bolt and torque the hell out of it?

    Other than that... could be a bad balancer - seems like if it's vibrating and wearing the belt bad and leaking from that area, could be out of balance

      thanks for the reply. looks like i dropped the ball on this one. i didn't relize the ballancer bolt was torque to yeild. all the other engine's iv done i just orderd a aftermarket sfi ballancer and orderd the new bolt from arp just to be sure. so we think we have it now. going out thursday or friday to his house to fix it. i think he's ordering a new bolt and balncer.

          Old bolt- 240ft
          Install new bolt 37ft plus 140drgrees
          Also supposed to use an alignment tool to center the cover over the crank
