i think my engine is eating itself...

ok, so awhile back my car started maxing out its temp it took me like 3 days to figure out that the radiatior was bad, but it did get to run that hot for almost 15 minutes at one point before i noticed anything wrong with it, now a couple weeks down the road i think it blew the headgasket because i had lots of smoke coming out of the exhaust, poured some gasket fixing agent in the radiatior and bam, no white smoke, now there is plenty of fuel in the oil from what i can smell, and one of the breathers in the back of the passenger side valve cover fell off and when i stick my finger in there it just feels like a bunch of chipped up peices of metal, i have been driving it cause i kinda gave up hope and i was gonna drive it till it died, but its gotten to the point of where it will take me near 12 seconds to get to second gear!. grandmas are passing me left and right because when i push the accelerator down to much it bogs down and wants to stall, and i have to keep my rpms up just to get it to go anywhere, randomly it will say no oil pressure, but then it will come back the next day and be good. anyone have any idea what coulda pooped out on me? lol

ok i found hopefully the problem, i just need...a new valve cover haha, the oil buffer thing on it broke off causing one of the rockers to take a nice bite out of it and fall off, i got the rocker head thing back on now i just need a new valve cover...how much are those? lol

i have a pair of ls1 heads and valve covers. they are the 98style (perimeter bolt) not sure if they are the same for an lt1 or not

Sounds like you found the problem. Change the oil and filter from the metal shavings you have in the engine.

Yup idk the ls1 will fit lol, I just need a passenger side cover, I would prefer a stock one for simplicty sake, anyone got one?

If the oil is full of metal, the bearings are probably full of metal also.

news update: got the valve cover fixed, shes driving like a champ i think what had happened was and im not sure how magnets work, but i think since the one lifter was rubbing against the thing of metal it made all the little metal bits stick ito it becuase after an oil change i didnt see any metal shavings in the drained oil only peices stuck to the metal peice i think its a miracle
