  • Progress on the Gasket job.

I know it has taken quite a while (will have been 2 weeks on Friday) to get this far, but only having 1.5 hours like every other day to work on the car (get out of work at 4:30, auto skills shop on base closes at 6:00) has killed the progression. The plan was to finish today :/

Anyway, today, we finally got the new pushrods and got the heads back on, then as I was tightening the final valve cover bolt, it broke off into the head. We removed the valve cover, tapped out the broken piece, and I will look for a matching bolt tonight or tomorrow. Then I got the LIM bolted and torqued to specs and proceeded to tighten down the UIM, but then Scott shoved the coolant elbow too far in, so he wanted me to take the UIM and LIM off so that he could fix his error easily. He ended up breaking it and having to go get another one from nearby. Then he got back and successfully put the elbow in and bolted down the LIM, UIM, and fuel rails. That is how the day ended.

This is what needs to be done tomorrow: exhaust manifolds (*****), remainder of my exhaust, EGR, intake duct, tensioner pulley, alternator, end link on rear sway bar, plugs, wires, etc...

Can't wait to finish this job. It will be way worth it.

lol you can just update your other threads instead of making a new one every time. lol

Anyways why not wait for the headers to come instead of putting the manifolds back on and then taking them off again. Save yourself some headaches and just do it all at once. Unless you decided against headers now.

That would have been ideal! But I think I said something somewhere about the problem. I am in FL for an internship that ends tomorrow. That guy on FTv6 didn't get back to me quick enough to make sure that the headers would get here in time, because I have to leave on Monday to come back to MI. That is why I had to put the stock manifolds back on, but right now I'm just concerned about getting the car to start :/

did you get valve lash set and adj correctly? make sure grounds are connected, recheck all connections.

K sorry about that, I just wanted to make sure some people would see the thread and help me out, because I had to make sure it was running so I could leave for MI this Monday. Well, got it all figured out. What I did wrong was: NOTHING. After checking and rechecking all connections and work, it turned out to be that the fuel injector fuse had blown. Go figure. Car runs about 7 degrees cooler, flows better (don't even have the headers yet) and runs clean. I have a little vibration that I'm trying to figure out, but it is only noticeable with the a/c on. Seems to me like the exhaust may be a little loose in some spots. Actually raced a 350z and kept up with it last night... figured I'd be blown away, but we were dead even 0-70... lol I'm very happy with the job my friend scott and i did. And I definitely feel the difference in the ported heads, but should notice more when I get headers/2.75" exhaust on.
