  • F&*king lost! P0101 with 3 different MAF's

I have 3 different MAF's, every one throws a P0101 code(Generic low voltage).. Thinking I have some wiring issues or the PCM is cooked.. I am totally lost now.. Ideas?

Edit: and it also threw a TPS position code too.. I think it was p0122, forgot the number.. Exact same thing it did last time I tried to start it. Cleared the codes, TPS code stays goes, but MAF comes on every time I run it. When I first started the car it ran fine for about 10 seconds.. now, same shit..

    *thinking back*

When I was having problems, it was the TPS voltage being way the F off. Run, pig rich, and wouldn't stay running unless I was constantly feathering the throttle. Once warm, forget about restarting for approximately and hour or so. You stated you haven't messed with the TPS. I'm curious as to what the voltages are? @ idle, and @ WOT. Doesn't seem like much, but those voltages will screw with a lot off different readings the PCM needs to do its thing right.

Bro, all I know is I pulled a pound of hair out of my head mulling over things.

Going to have to check voltages for sure.. Something is screwed, voltage wise for some reason... Odd that on both initial start ups it ran fine for a few seconds and then the TPS and MAF code showed up and it went to shit.. I can clear the TPS code, but the MAF comes back every time I start it.. Even though the TPS clears, it still has me wondering...

MAF relays? Just a thought. The following is from www.lt1ls1.com http://www.ls1lt1.com/forum/showthre...?t=5773&page=2

Maf relays are on the driver's side firewall in the corner right behind the brake booster. The first one is the maf burnoff, second is maf power
and third is fuel pump relay. I may have the 1st and 2nd confused though. Look in the manual to find out which one is which.

Try swapping the relays between the 2 maf relays and see if there is any change. The coolant fan relays are the same type/style relays and you can swap those to check also. There is one on the passenger side fender near the charcoal canister and I think another at the corner of the radiator/passenger side at the front. It will be an oval-looking relay. The fuelpump relay is rectangular for reference.

Only use GM relays. The autozone and advance ones may or may not work. I have a couple that are hit and miss.

Swap the coolant fan relay to the maf relays and see if that cures your problem. The
car shouldn't start with the maf sensor disconnected, mine doesn't.

edit: TPS voltages at least on a third gen .5 volt @ idle to 5 volts @ WOT.

Moved the battery back to the front.. Started right up and ran fine for 10 seconds or so, then the MAF code... Cleared the code while running, smoothed right out and idled.. Then the MAF code came right back and killed it.. ****ing house wreaks!!!!!

I'm going to guess I'll be kicking myself in the ass when I find the problem.. I've probably looked right at it(problem) 50 times.....

Have you checked your MAP senser? Doesn't the MAF use the MAP (barometric pressure) when calculating fuel trim? If your MAP is messed up, it could throw your MAF readings way off.

MAP sensor is new.. I had issues with it 2 years ago when All Speeds standalone took a dump and quit sending the MAP signal to the PCM.. Never had an issue after I fixed it.. Going to look it over again when I get home...

Copied this info off my scanner not sure if it will help you or not.

                      P0101 OBD-II Trouble Code

                      Technical Description

Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Range/Performance Problem
                      What does that mean?

Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. The PCM detects that the actual MAF sensor frequency signal is not within a predetermined range of the calculated MAF value for more than 4.0 seconds. Other MAF sensor circuit DTC trouble codes are P0100, P0102, P0103, and P0104.
                      Symptoms

You will likely not notice any serious drivability problems, although there may be symptoms.
                      Possible Solutions

The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. Then start with the cheapest, easiest repair procedures:
                      • Inspect for the following conditions:
An incorrectly routed harness--Inspect the harness of the MAF sensor in order to verify that it is not routed too close to the following components:
                        - The secondary ignition wires or coils
                        - Any solenoids
                        - Any relays
                        - Any motors
                      • A low minimum air rate through the sensor bore may cause this DTC to set at idle or during deceleration. Inspect for any vacuum leaks downstream of the MAF sensor.
                      • A wide open throttle (WOT) acceleration from a stop should cause the MAF sensor g/s display on the scan tool to increase rapidly. This increase should be from 6-12 g/s at idle to 230 g/s or more at the time of the 1-2 shift. If the increase is not observed, inspect for a restriction in the induction system or the exhaust system.
                      • The barometric pressure (BARO) that is used in order to calculate the predicted MAF value is initially based on the MAP sensor at key ON.
                      • When the engine is running the MAP sensor value is continually updated near WOT. A skewed MAP sensor will cause the calculated MAF value to be inaccurate. The value shown for the MAP sensor display varies with the altitude. With the ignition ON and the engine OFF, 103 kPa is the approximate value near sea level. This value will decrease by approximately 3 kPa for every 305 meters (1,000 feet) of altitude.
                      • A high resistance on the ground circuit of the MAP sensor can cause this DTC to set.
                      • Any loss of vacuum to the MAP sensor can cause this DTC to set.

I am leaning more and more towards the PCM... The car does the exact same thing every time.. It will start normally, run for approx 10 seconds and shut off.. If I keep my foot on the throttle, I can feather it past that point, clear the code(while running and it will run like a top, idle nice) but it will only run for about 10 seconds and do the same thing.. If I put a stop watch on it, it would shut off at exactly the same time, every time.. Will have a scanner for the weekend, Tech II(IIRC).. See what the PCM is getting for a signal... 99.99999999999% no vacuum leak... A friend was over for an hour or so today, he double checked everything I have checked.. He couldn't find anything out of the ordinary either...

anyone you know have a stock PCM lying around you could use for a minute? Might help you narrow it down to what the real issue is.
