  • Intake Manifold Gasket replace, help!!

I have decided to keep my car, It looks like all I need is to replace the intake manifold gasket, cheap fix. I am going to try to tackle it with a buddy Friday, but, never have done it. Any advice, what to/not do. Any advice would be great. I hope this fixes my leak.

I use the felpro blue gaskets and use a bead of rtv on the front and rear seals and around all the coolant and intake ports. I personally dont use the end seals. I just use black rtv on the ends and have never had a problem. Eric L

use a punch to make divets in the rear wall of the lifter valley. Its a common spot for leaking and the divets will help the RTV seal better.

Getting the intake of an LT1 off is pretty easy - just keep an eye on that oil sensor in the top of the block in the back, it's pretty fragile.

Only certian years had the oil sensor up top, other years had it down on the oil filter boss. I dont know which was which, but my 94 is down low. I like the divet idea, ill have to try that next time.......I like that. Eric L

Yep. I use a small punch and make 80-100 dots on the front and rear sealing surface of my manifold. Not once have I had a single leak

93 and 94 the oil sensor is down low by the oil filter, 95-97 it's up top. Down low you break them while doing header installs, up top you break them while messing with the intake manifold. Damned either way.

let the rtv set a while before you install the intake that way it doesn't all squish out.
