I've never done this in an f-body, but I helped a friend do it in his Lincoln, all he had to buy was the A/C delete pulley, and they had it in stock at Autozone. The rest of it (removing A/C lines, condenser, other hardware) and making the removal look clean is up to you.

You need nothing for a 98 since the ls1 a/c compressor is on a separate belt. You can remove the entire a/c system without needing anything unless you want to chop up the big HVAC box hanging off of the passenger side of the firewall. You'll then need a big piece of aluminum to cover the hole you made which you can buy from BMR or a couple other places (or you can make it yourself).

First go to an auto repair place and get the free'on (sp?) removed from the system. then like above said take off the compressor. the rad for it and everything else can be removed. This is the easy part. Then remove your entire dash board and everything else in the way to get at the heater box. The AC part of the whole system is the part that protrudes into the engine bay. I still wanted heat in my car so I opted to chop the AC part of the box off and keep the rest of the heater box flush with the firewall. I cut a small oval in the delete plate to let the 2 coolant lines through so that I could hook those back up to the heater core.

I used some sort of glue/adhesive I don't remember what, maybe even silicone of some sort to seal the heater box onto the delete plate and bolted it all back into place. I have yet to hook up the lines for my heat, at the moment, I just pulled out the part on the water pump and plugged it. I'll probably make new coolant lines for the heater with some black braided AN line down the road...

then I had my entire engine bay repainted so the panel among everything else i chopped up and changed around didn't look nasty.. If you look close this is the best picture I can find at the moment. If you look behind the funnel I had in the trans fill tube you can see where the coolant orifices come through the delete plate...
