98 Camaro light problem

I have a 1998 camaro v6 and for some reason when my headlight should come on they don't and my power in the car flickers but if i turn the lights off everything works great.

I have already replaced the battery, cleaned the cables, removed aftermarket alarm, changed the switch, tested alternator, and still cant figure anything out.

update...I was told to try checking the headlight sockets but I don't know if I should use a volt meter or a tester light to see if there is power or a short?

Ian,

I talked to your brother and he went over all the different things you tried. The thing that intrigues me is the alternator plug only having one wire going to it. On a 93-97 LT1, there's two wires... maybe someone with a 98 3.8L could confirm how many wires are going to the plug that plugs into the alternator.

The other alternative might be a malfunctioning body control module (BCM) which is located under the dash and controls a crap ton of stuff.

thhink it uses an ls1 alt which is only 1 wire

unplug the lights and check for power and check for continuity to ground

Im thinking BCM, mine has done that a few times, theres a relay that needs to be re soldered, mine needs it to, my pw/pl/radio/and lights will just up and quite, then come back and flicker. Its weird, ill see if I can dig it up for you.
