Sound Deadener?

I was thinking about ways to add weight to my car and was wondering if anyone knows of any cheap sound deadener? Ive got my interior half apart right now for the fuel pump so i figured now would be a good time to do it. Main thing is, it needs to be CHEAP, because id much rather spend money on the LS1 pcm right now

does home depot carry anything i could use?

Yep, I plan on using chasis saver to coat the inside before using sound deadener as well, I know it has sound-deadening properties... not to mention will preserve the car longer.

But i really like quiet interiors so id like to do both if possible.

I am going to do the interior for now, so underneath the carpet and the entire trunk/hatch area. I'll do the doors in the future when i do my crank window conversion. Not doing anything under the hood though, that would look like hell.

I recommend you do some more research before you spend any money.

I don't consider myself an expert but I will do my best to explain what I have learned in the fall.

There are two main kinds of sound/heat/vibration dampners. Asphalt and butyl based mats. Ashphalt is cheaper and most people agree that Butyl is the better product to use. You could easily spend $500+ on sound deadening your car. You really should come up with a budget and what are your goals. Most of your road noise comes from your wheel wheels, doors, and your roof.

The damplifer mat should be your base(get a mat that is self adhesive!), If you decide to use any sprays, or foam liners after it should be over the damplifer.
Secondksinaudio.com has a forum and I suggest you read some of the pages so you buy the right product and your not wasting your money.

For my chevelle I used 50 square feet in my chevelle. (doors, most of the floor/firewall, and fronts of the quarter panels.
On my Cobalt I used a gallon of there undercoating on my exterior wheel wells and I plan to use 30 sq ft on the doors and floor if I ever take it apart..

It can be deafening on the oustide, but id like to arrive with my ears in tact

I have heard of people using some kind of duct wrap from like Home depot.. Very cheap, but you get what you pay for... Alan JR also used the Fatmat rattletrap and loves it too..

I used the Asphalt and butyl based mats. I should have used the reflective style mat in my floor boards. Cruis'n Woodward for the Dream Cruise those floor boards were cooking with the dual exhaust and headers under them. I am going to change that before the next Dream Cruise for sure!

when I did one of my old cars I used dynamat, just bought it offline it wasnt too expensive.
