  • Need some cam help

This goes out to all the cam guys and those who know a little something about piston to valve clearence.

Would a cam spec'd at 238/242 .605/.610 115 lsa fit in an otherwise stock LS1 shortblock without having to flycut?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

It should fit yes. You would still have to clay it to check PTV because I'm sure it will be close.

Now my question is why are you trying to put the "largest cam you can fit" into a stock shortblock car? What are your other mods? And goals?

a smaller cam would run better that that. i dont think a 115 would work well

it's a forced induction cam, for my future plans. I plan on jumping up to a 6.0 block or even a 6.2 block also. I just wanted to see if it would work in the LS1 for the time being.

one thing to remember. Even if you have PTV clearance when the engine isnt running, that does not similate a 6500 RPM condition where even a small amount of valve float can cause a collision. Make sure your springs are up to the task if you really need to push it to the limit like that. i dont think its necessary.

Turbo cam? A blower would like a lot more exhaust duration than that.

seems massive for a stock cubed motor, turbo or not.
