Ok i have a 84 firebird with a 2.8 i just changed the spark plugs but not wires i got on the freeway and when i went to 5th gear it felt like it was slipping and back firing what could this be

could it possibly be your shifting into 5th gear to low and its loading the tbi, carb. up with gas? thats essentially a ticking time bomb there if thats what your doing. other then that idk why it would only do it in one gear. unless you have a problem in the trans or some weird shit like that94 V6 A4>>>>LT1 M6>>>>>>383 M6 13.1 @ 109 2.2 60' Sold/Stripped

If you dropped a spark plug before you installed it there is a very good chance that the insulator shell got cracked. Also if your spark plug socket does not have the rubber boot inside of it you can easily crack the insulator when installing the spark plug.It is very hard to see these cracks in the spark plug. Also check the spark plug gap and check to make sure your firing order is correct.
