  • Help, my car has a vibration

So my 2000 grand prix gtp has developed a vibration. Ill try to explain the best i can. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly apprciated.

On the highway it is most noticable around 2300 rpm
On city roads at low speeds its at 1500 rpm.
Either place its there at all rpm but worse in those ranges, it seems to be driven by throttle position. if Im off the gas completely it doesnt happen at all.

Mike this could be a hard one, there's numerous things it could be.....do you notice a difference when turning the wheel??

I would rebalance your wheels frirst or at least rotate you tires.

Have the tie rods checked as well. We where told that's what causes the vibrations on our mini van on the highway. That and the lower control arm was loose.

I would think more towards a motor or trans mount. Heck, it could even be a miss in the motor since its throttle dependant. Eric L

Eric thats what i was thinking since it doesnt happen when im off the gass. if it was a wheel, tie rod, etc wouldnt it do it all the time?

I'd pull your wheels off and clean the dirt out from the insides. After that I'd spend the $20 and get them rebalanced. After that it could be a number of things but that will really help.

If it was a wheel balance issue it wouldnt be dependant on throttle position. It could even be the converter locking and un locking, or something like that. But thats where id look first before suspension. Either that or the mount thing. Eric L
