  • door hinge repair kit ???

i ordered a repair kit for my passenger door. it came witha small round cam and pin. i think this is what i was wanting. the door sags slightly but will raise up at the open locking positions (2 of them) and then will have to kinda slam the door hard. anyways im looking at doing that repair today but unsure of whats really involved. i have plenty of tools but i think im missing some specialty tools. a spring compressor possibly and pin popper????? anyone have any ideas on how to do this without those tools. almost looks like the front fender will have to come off so i can get to the bolts holding the hinge on. thanks

hmm, that will be interesting to see how that works, I've never even heard of this kit before! The weight of the doors just causes them to sag after a while or something?

im thinking of taking it to a body shop to see what they say. i tried shimming the bottom hinge to lift the door, but it didnt work, actually was worse so i took the shim out and put it back the way it was. i dont know

It's fairly common to have to replace the door pins on cars after awhile - I know it's fairly popular with GMC Jimmys. Unfortunately, I've never done it but I think my dad has... maybe he'll pop in here and comment on it.

I did replace the door pins on the Jimmy. I popped the spring out was fairly straight forward to tap the pin out then the bushing install in reverse order bushing then pin. I left the spring out the only effect was detent stops. NBD.

Let me know how it goes, my driver door sags too. I completely replaced my hinges from a 25k mile SS and that didn't even end up fixing it all the way.
