  • ls7 heads

Does anyone know why the ls7 heads would not work on the ls1? I was reading another forum about it but no one said exactly why they wouldn't work. They did say it would work on the ls2 though and because the ls7 was a truck motor the heads would only cost $400 a piece.8-O With intake, cam, and throttle body THEY said you would see a 100+ horsepower gain.8-O If you changed springs and fuel rails it would be a even bigger horsepower gain.

    The LS7 isn't a truck motor!

The LS7 is the 7.0L engine in the Z06...

I knew it was in the vette but one of the post in this forum said they also put it in the tahoe which was what i was reffering to...here is the forum where it was posted in http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25890
is it possible to make the ls1 handle it or would it be like swapping a v6 for a v8 as far as money is concerned

That's the L92. Basically the same flow as the LS7 heads, but WAY cheaper. Same with the LS3 heads.

L92 and LS3 heads are the same casting, only the valves and springs are different, in stock form they flow around 332 cfm.
And yes the L92's are about $400 each fully assembled but you need a minumum of a 4.00" bore (6.0 block) to clear the intake valves, and you need the L76/LS3 passenger car intake. They are cheap because they are mass produced and are used on the L92, LS3, L76, L98 and L99
Also the LS7 heads are a step above the L92/LS3's

                    Unfortunately not for a 346 cube LS1
But it also depends on your goals cause 400 RWHP can be had with stock heads.

LS2/6 heads will show good gains for the same $400 price range per pair.
