I'm going to be replacing my belt tensioner in the morning but I cannot seem to find any were what has to be done to do this. Its not in my chilton book. I cant seem to find any thing online. Has any one pulled one off a LT1 before? I have not. I'm wondering what I'm going to need to do this I'm a gear head so I'm not a stranger to working on cars. I just kinda need a shopping list for tools because my car is parked at my mom's house closer than my dad's when the belt came lose. But all my tools are at dad's house. Do I have to remove any thing to be able to get the tensioner out?

You will need a 1/2 socket to move the tension pulley (nut in the center of pulley) and remove the belt.
When you do this make sure the handle of the socket wrench is at about 5 o'clock because it will want to rotate up into the fans when you take the belt off.
Then you just have 2 10mm bolts that hold it on.
piece of cake

The whole tensioner asm is held on with 2 10mm bolts, the pulley is either 13mm or 1/2" Unfortunately the LT1 is out of car so I cann't tell if anything is in the way.sigpic

Well I thought I would let you guys look at what went boom. I was very surprised that this thing made little noise other than a little tic.
The old one.

The new one.
