  • This a little high??

I called Warren engine exchange today and they quoted me 850.00 to 900.00 for replacement of the rings and bearing for a 5.3 engine it just seems a little high to me but what do I know! if that is how much the going rates are I think I am going to have to suck it up and do it myself!!......now I am scared!!LOL!

That seems a little high from them in my opinion, but then again I'd take it to a real machine shop that specializes in LSx motors.

Engine in a truck, on a stand, in your camaro? I'd do it for half of that. It's such a simple job if the engine is out of the vehicle.

It's not hard doing rings & bearings.
Cam bearing are tricky but not impossible.

Almost sounds like they're telling you they don't want to do it in a politically correct way, by WAY overcharging.

The engine is out of the car. I have been doing some research on it. it does not seem to hard but I have heard horror stories about this one. I noticed when the heads were off that the cylinders still have the cross hatching on them that a good sign?? I need to go see my cousin and borrow her engine stand.
