  • 4th gen short throw shifter?

its become a contaversy and i want to know the truth lol. i have the stock shifter on my 96 m6 z28 and one the shifter is like a tree compared to my buddys stang. also his shift throw is rediculously short. now with 4th gen camaros and "short throw shifter" does it actually shorten the throw ? i one person tell me it does, and another saying it just shortens the shifter?

id like shorter throws its not a big issue to me tho, got bigger fish to fry at the moment

edit: his stang has a short throw shifter.

you can get short sticks for just about all shifters. most aftermarket shifters change the pivot point to shorten the throw a little to.
with the shorter stick and shifter the actually throw us reduced alot.
here is my pro5.0 with a lous short stick and tail-less knob.
for racing I us the stock knob cause this one is too short to shift fast.
I am gonna be using a pistol grip handle this year

I can tell you from experience that yes, it does shorten the throw needed to change gears. However, it does take some getting used to at first, and if you're into power shifting, the stock stick is actually easier to power shift since you have more leverage with it. Mine is noisier than stock though (it kind of "clicks" into gear).

        I went with this one:http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...oducts_id=1176

But apparently you'd need this one: http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...oducts_id=1177

To be honest you could probably make one yourself if you had the materials/know how, it's not that complicated of a design.

          this is very true.

I have a Pro 5.0 with a cut down Pro 5.0 handle (in between stock and short stick length) with a pistol grip. it isnt the most convenient for cruising around, but not an inconvenience either. However, I can SHRED with it. To the point that it sounds like I am powershifting when I am actually lifting. If I ever blow my 10 bolt, that will be why. Bad things will happen if i ever put a sticky tire on and try that, gauranteed.

          pardon my dirty interior:

I have the WS6store short throw and it does take some getting used to but there is a big difference. I have a hurst t-bar on mine so it makes shifting fast a little easier imo

I can help you with B&M or a Hurst shifter.
I can also get the UMI short stick.

That is definitly the one that i will be going with when i get a short throw. I've just heard that the Pro 5.0 is "notchy", and I HATE that feeling.

Also Fred, dont' you remember me linking you to that cover that 6LiterEater made to cover up the cassete holder?

i had the pro 5.0 with a lou short stick, it was nice but it was kinda notchy and you had to make sure it was in gear all the way sometimes. but compared to stock haha omg, r1cefed is the only one who felt my shifter when i had the stocker in there he didnt know how i shifted it, it was so sloppy i swear i missed 3rd gear everytime i got on it

yea the pro 5.0 is a bit notchy, but I dont feel like that is the shifters fault. It was a "soft notchy" with the stock shifter. And you only notice the notchiness when youre pussy-footing with it
