Sound deadener

Figure since my car is getting gutted might as well put in a better sound deadener under the carpet.. Any suggestions? Where do you get the stuff?

There's different kinds. They have the spray on rubbery stuff and the sheets. Can get the sheets just about anywhere that sells car audio. Best Buy, ABC Warehouse, etc... I don't know which is better though.

I would just remove it. You don't need that extra weight in your "race car" anyways

Isn't' POR15 used for rust protection not sound deadener? I don't know much about that stuff.

yea basically. Id PM Alan Jr, he has a thread up on here somewhere where he did his this past summer with some off brand dynamat type stuff, I rode in his car after he did it and it definately quieted it down a lot, i liked it. If it didnt take removing everything from inside the car to do it id consider it. Seemed a lot nicer with no creaks or rattles and road noise went down ALOT.

if POR15 is anything like the chasis saver i used on my truck (ive never used POR15), it should deaden sound as well as prevent rust.

Go on Ebay and look up Brown Bread of Bquiet. I've used both of these with great results, and they cost about a quarter of what Dynamat costs. I did this to my old cavalier, and it reduces the interior noise, and if you have a stereo system, makes it sound a million times better. Anyways last time i bought the stuff it was about 125 for 100 sqft of bquiet.... and that's enought to do two cars and by cars i mean, the doors, the trunk lid , trunk, and the floor.

I have from the front of the floor pan back to the seats with dynomat sound deadner. I just bought the door panel kits at Best Buy and Circuit City. I got the price per square foot a bunch of different packages and that was the cheapest at the time.

But anyways it definitely helped, I mean my cam is so big that the quietest exhaust can't keep it quiet (SLP Dual/Dual) and I only have part of my car done.

There is both spray on (LizardSkin) and stick on sheets, like Dynomat and DEI.

POR15 is not a sound deadner.

I can get several different types in different price ranges.
