Ok, well I just knew that James' was getting expensive. Still probably even for $1200 for the motor, trans and harness you are going to spend a few hundred more to make it all fit and work right (exhaust and stuff).

also k member and such too. ls1 swaps add up quickly and people need to be prepared before just jumping right in. If u get a donor car then you are in business

My bosses father in law found it on ebay. Was a 2 hour drive and he picked it up from the guys house.

If you are all interested in a LT1 and 4L60E my buddy just tore one out of his car last fall so he could drop in a carbed 396.

See how much he wants for it. I want something with low miles, but I wouldnt mind rebuilding a high mile engine if I can get it for a good price.

Agreed. Im not looking to build a race car. I just want both show and go. Wether it be lt1 or ls1 its still better than my v6.

Are there any thread talking about SBC's?

with everyone bashing eachothers engines--sbc, lt1, ls1--its hard to tell what is the right route to go.

A few main reasons i would go with a LS1. They are great motors. Strong Light. Technology. downside expensive.

The LT1 is not a bad engine either. there downside is the opti-spark other than that it is a great motor.
Whatever you do make sure it is Fuel injected.

1995 TA Sold. i sure do miss it though.
1998 Trans Am aka Winter beater

How to fix the opti-spark problem? Is it that big of a deal?
