Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I finally got off my lazy azz and started swapping out my knock sensors. Efffing intake manifold bolt snapped off due to rust. So now not only can I not remove the manifold because the bolt hole is all jammed up with rust but there is too much of the bolt left sticking out of the head to slide the manifold off of.
I need 1 intake bolt for a ls-1. any one have one?

Ok. So heres what happened. Maybe this will help someone else.
I snapped the 4th bolt on the passenger side of the intake. The bolt, for whatever reason was rusted to about half its normal diameterand and the rust was packed inside the hole in the manifold. I tried to work it back and forth but in the end it just let go about an inch down into the bolt hole.
To remove the manifold I sprayed a bunch of PB blaster into the hole and levered up on the manifold. Once I got it to move up a little I worked it up and down and twisted it as much as I could. It finally let go after about 40 minutes.
Being that there was so much bolt left sticking out, the manifold wouldnt slide forward. So I blocked it up as high as I could and cut off the bolt with a sawzall blade. I left enough to work with to get the bolt out of the head after the manifold had been removed.
Not a horrible job overall but I didnt see that bolt coming. Now for the $64,000 question. Why would that bolt be that rusty on a dry manifold?
have heard of issues where rain water runs down the windshield and somehow collects on the intake manifold. If the intake bolts aren't tight enough the water can get into the engine and even hydro-lock it when you try to start it.
