or assuming i can trust the odometer. since ive only had the car 6 months. there is nothing to say it hasnt had an engine put in it in the past, the car runs super strong. stronger than any "near 200k" engine ive ever driven anyways. but im definitely not going to "assume" anything. and im going to treat as a high milage engine.

Bottom end all forged, LE2 heads. Cam 242 248 .585 .580 110 LSA. 58mm TBI and 37# injectors. Racetronix fuel pump and harness. The 406 number was made with my trans slipping in third, probably cost me a little. It also made 490rwhp on a 100 shot the same day.

Id look for evidence of a swap. Entirely possible its still strong at that mileage though if maintained

like what? ive noticed a couple of vacuum fittings that are blue instead of black and one of the heater hoses is a pale green color (but that may or may not be a factory hose? i dunno. it dosent look like a "after market" shade of green like some one would put on there cuz it looks nice, ya know? and i do know the front and rear seals are seeping a bit, but not enough to lower the oil level. the guy i got it from did seem to baby it. it stayed in the garage he ran synthetic oil. etc etc. but he wasnt the original owner either. is there a way to track down previous owners of a vehicle to try and trace its history down? with my old IROC, my dad was the service manager at chevy and he was able to locate the names of the two previous owners of the car. and i know the two guys since me that have and still do own it. sorry for getting off topic. sounds like a 383 is the way i should go. is 400-500 for a used LT1 a fair price? or can they be found cheaper?

My LT1 that I bought was an amazing deal. I bought the LT1, trans, PCM, engine harness, engine bay harness, interior harness, both driver's and passenger's doors, both t-tops, all four rims and tires, spare tire, rear bumper, rear tailpanel, rear hatch... I think that's it? $1000. He was trying to give me more parts when I was loading the trucks but we were out of room. I still needed a kframe ($150), accessory bracket ($40)... some other parts. But I ended up selling the v6 and transmission out of my car for $600 total.
