  • Crank but no start

So my latest project was pulling the Lt1 from that 95 red Formula that is all rusted out and putting it in a 96 firebird. I got the motor swap done and I also swapped the engine bay harness. I got evething hooked up and it cranks but no start. I didnt get time to do much testing but i dont think im getting spark or fuel so im thinking I dont have power to the PCM. I was reading through posts and the only difference i see that would cause my problem is 96 body harness is the PCM power is on the body harness and the 95 PCM comes from the engine harness. So since I swaped the engine bay harness I should be ok there? any one else do this swap that can shed some light on the situation for me? I am going to be towing the car my house tomorrow so I can do some more testing but thought I would start asking to see if some one can make the diag a little quicker and easier for me.

    Thanks in advance

What engine did you have originally? If a V6 the dash harness may be different for a V6.

There were several wires that needed to be fixed. There was a power wire to PCM or injecters in plugs on passenger side fender well, I believe to OBD port wire is different and you'll have to swap gauge assembly. I'll check my notes and see if I have these from when we swapped v6 to v8 in brians car. We went from 94 v6 to 95 LT1.

What you'll need to do is go to shbox.com's Wire Harness page and then look at the differences between 1995 and 1996. Biggest problem is that 1995 is an OBD1.5 and 1996 is OBD2.
