  • Only one side of engine running

Recently just completed my swap of a 98 LS1 to a 98 Firebird. We thought everything was good to go until we tested the coils on the passenger side and the whole side seems to not be getting any spark?

Some guys over at LS1Tech said I needed to add a 12v ignition wire to the bank of coils and and I should be good to go...I'm really hoping it's that easy. Dad said he thinks it could be the ecm crappin out, and I definitely don't wanna buy another one of those!

I just wanted to get some of your thoughts on what it could be? Summer's comin fast and I just want it on the road!

you need to get a wire diagram for v6 and v8. trace out the coil pack wiring. We did this on b's v6 to v8 conversion but it was a lt1 engine.

I know EXACTLY what your problem is...

Had the same problem with my swap. In the 3 connectors on the passenger side of the engine bay, there are some differences. The one particular problem your having is that there is a 12v SWITCHED power on the engine side, and a ground on your V6 engine bay harness. I can get you the exact info you need tomorrow, but look up my build threads and it should be in there. You do not need the v6 engine bay ground, so snip it a few inches from the connector(engine bay side) and solder a new wire on to the connector, and run it to your fuse box, run it to terminal INJ2. There will be no fuse there, add a fuse and youll have power to the other 4 coils and injectors on the pass bank of cylinders. LMK if you need any more help.

I will be on the road most of the day tomorrow, but my number is 810 nine three eight 5464, shoot me a txt or PM on here if you need help, I will have my aircard and crap with me, so I should be able to help! You will be tearin up the streets by the end of the day no problem!

It should be cavity B in the C101 connector. Needs 12v keyed power there. FYI, all pink wires under the hoods of our cars are 12v keyed power, ergo, cavity B on the engine bay side of the C101 connector should be pink. But its either a ground or missing entirely on the engine BAY side, depending on year.

Also C101 should be the rear most connector of the three, closest to the pcm.

This applies to all three of the "C" connectors
The GM color code for wiring is very consistant. When in doubt, the following applies to any loose ends you might end up with in connectors C100, C101, C105, C220, and C230...
...red wires...all loose red wires should be connected to "12v+" protected by a fusible link.
...orange wires...all loose orange wires should be connected to "12v+" protected by a fuse of at least 10a.
...pink wires...all these wires in the LS1 harness should connect to a 12v "switched +" power source hot in "start" and "run".
...black...all these wires in the LS1 harness should connect to chassis ground.
...black w/ white stripe...all these wires in the LS1 harness should connect to engine ground.
