Hopefully I don't step on anybody's toes but I was doing some research into Gen 1 engines and found this website that sells pro rebuilt 350's with aftermarket goodies:
I thought it was a really fair price for what you get so maybe this will help someone here. I don't think you could build an engine that cheap considering what freight shipping and machine work costs. Enjoy!
