  • lt1 swap

I found a lt1 with 70,000 on it for 1500... it has the tranny, computer, and wire harness with it... do any of you know how hard it wil be to put that into my car which is a six right now.... and is that to much for the motor and trans and everything....thanks

That motor/trans cannot be priced by just looking at it. It could be a 170k motor that's just quoted at 70k.

Ask for a compression test to be done. The trans could also be bad, there's no way to know without sending it out to a shop to get dynoed.

You're really taking your chances here, I'd give him $1k or less.

The swap - It's quite intensive. You'll need to swap your rearend, driveshaft, and have the car down for about a week. It can be done, just expect another $700-$900 for the swap.

If you were to go through with it, better to be safe then sorry swapping the rear end.

only thing you would be sorry about with a v6 rear end is melting the sh!t out of one tire.

So what else would be aviseable to do to a V6 for the swap? I want my car to be a street rod not a drag car. I'm working on the rear end. I have plans for the driveshaft. Is that all? I mean that sounds way too easy.

Jason - I have a lead on an aluminum driveshaft if you want it. Let me know ASAP!
