V6 to V8 Engine Swap 4th Gen

Since this has come up several times in the past few months I thought I would Post a list of the things we ran into.

This is what you need.
LT 1 v8 engine & Trans

1. K frame (Engine Mount Location)
2. Trans cross member (can be modified,Hole needs elongated)
3. Front springs and shocks
4. Throttle cable (different end)
5. Trans shifter cable. (end larger)
6. Engine wire harness
7. Engine Control Module.
8. Cruise control cable (different end.)
9. Radiator (V8 thicker)
10. Radiator hoses.
11. Heater hose asmb.
12. Emergency Brake cables. (If you swap to V8 rear end)
13. Drive shaft. ( If you have a 2 piece)
14. P/S reservoir (V8 mounted on inner Wheel Well)
15. Radiator fans (v6 = 1 fan, v8 = 2 fans)
16. A/C lines (will work from v6 to v8 comp.)

Having a manual trans will make that list larger and much more expensive...

gauge cluster, right?

That's one that we haven't entirely tried yet. I'm still curious if it's just that the gauge cluster has to be recalibrated or that it has to be entirely replaced.

Hey B! Could you possibly get a pis of the two rads (V6 & V8) together. I've been contemplating a higher capacity system and wondered what routing the hoses would need to go.

Yeah I should be able to do that when the auto radiator comes and we pull the manual one out. It's about 1/2 inch thicker, roughly, but otherwise all the dimensions are the same.

I was thinking if the budget holds after the build, maybe popping in a couple "S" fans, just to get the max flow through the radiator. Pretty tough on a bird, considering that most of the cooling air comes from under the nose.

Hmm, if you're talking an LT1 then that's not entirely true. I'm using my stock fuel lines and pump. I know a guy on CamaroZ28 with a heads/cam Z28 and upgraded injectors with no problems on his stock v6 fuel pump. With the v6 fuel lines, you just have to disconnect the lines from the fender wall in the engine bay and then it will reach... or you can do a fuel line relocation like I did.
