  • Diesel Motor in an Fbody?

I love my car and I love the enviroment. But the two don't go so well together. One thing I have been following is the idea of Biodiesel fuel. Its like cooking oil that is filtered. Well anyway I was thinking... What are the possiblilties of installing a diesel motor in an fbody for the purpose of running biodiesel? Has this ever been done before? Anyone want to try?

if you're concerned about the enviroment...don't drive .... ride a bike and if you still need to drive, buy one of these things....my mom did, and it's a joke!!! i tell my mom that for every gallon of gas she saves, and every tree she saves, my lack of cats and gas guzzling car kills! hahaha im an *******, i know.....

Its actually refined quite a bit more than just filtering. There are a complex set of reactions that you have to put it through to make it "bio-diesel". Its really involved and and wasteful... not to mention you make alot of nasty by-products...

How do you know bd is better for the environment? Of course marketing will say so, but like stated, it makes byproducts, still has emissions (even though the emissions are most likely co2 and h2o, excess co2 is bad for the environment). Point is, automobiles pollute, if you are worried, the best thing would be ride a bike when possible.

                    Could you do it? Yeah.

Would you want to? Probably not. Wait for the technology to develop a bit more. It's not something that you can retrofit an existing gas engine into. It would be a full reinstall.

The huge advantage of biodiesels is they don't have the sulfur content regular diesels do. Even compared to a gasoline engine, biodiesels are extremely clean.

When this unfounded hype about hybrids goes away, diesels will become more prominent. Chrysler is already putting a diesel in Durangos and can't keep them on the lot.

Your not getting the point. (I LOVE MY CAR)! I just wish it were better for the enviroment thats all. Why should I have to give up something I really enjoy when I could combine the two? I realize that it would be an engine transplant and I was planning one in the next few years anyway. Also all of the scientific journals I've read say that biodiesal is very efficient and the only byproducts are a popcorn smell. I think this is a great idea. What will happen when MI becomes like CA and restricts our cars for pollution? Just quit driving them. How about No. I will build one someday. It just a matter of time and education.

Were just showing you the easy way out, obiviously anything is possible and any motor can be swaped with enough time and money its just gonna be a major pita and probably loads of cash.

There has to be some way to do it. It might be a little pricey, but if that's what you want, I'm sure something can be figured out.... But that's just my opinion.
