Just a factory replacement fuel pump from the dealer, I just assumed the v8's came with a bigger one. Ill look into that. Also what years can the radiator come from? And will the accessories fit under the hood or will I need the ls1 brackets?

Yeah, the v6 fuel pump will work just fine from what I've read for LT1s... would assume the LS1s are the same. The PSI is about the same, the volume they supply is slightly lower for the v6 but it should still work fine. There's a guy on CamaroZ28 with a nicely modded LT1 and he's still running his v6 fuel pump.

I gotta ask since I've been looking into this conversion as well. Where the hell did you find it so cheap?

Did you manage to nab an iron block LM7 or aluminum LM4 or L33?

I know one thing you're going to have to do is swap the tail shaft assembly on the transmission provided you don't have an aftermarket torque arm that takes it off of the tail shaft housing.

I'm also curious about what to do regarding the ecu. I'm sure if you were to use an f-body tune, you'd be able to start the car, but it would probably be a rich tune considering the 20 cubic inch difference in engines. I can only assume that using HPTuners would be the best bet at that point.

Again, I'd really like to know where you got your engine/trans from. If you want, pm me about it. Thanks.

I got it from my dads friend that owed him a favor, that turned into my christmas present. Check ebay, there getting cheap these days.

Im aware I have to swap the tail shaft housing, but my only question at this point is, can i use the one off of my v6? So far no one has had an answer.

Im going to be using the 5.3 computer and harness and modifying it to my needs. Then taking it to a local speed shop that did my buddies TT ls1 for the tune.

Where is the number on the heads at so I can see which ones I have?

the number should be near the rear of the head facing upwards.

Not sure about the tail shaft housing swap.

The source of my info for the different engines is this:

Definitely post up pics of what you are doing and keep us informed of the progress. I got a gut feeling this is the way I'm going to go with my Camaro.

Have no idea on the cam yet, im thinking something nice and tame maybe just a factory ls6 cam. I drive this car everyday in the summer (for the most part) and I want to keep it that way.

I was supposed to bring the motor home last friday but because of the holidays and such I just havent gotten around to it. Hopefully I can get it home tomorrow and start to clean it up and tear off all the accessories, intake, and such and get it painted. Not that it really needs it.

TR224 cam is the absolute norm, makes great power and as streetable as can be if tuned properly.

I'm definitely watching this thread! My dad had a silverado with the 5.3 Vortech, great engine. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep my car and swap/boost it or try to find an M6/LS1 car in the spring. I've tried other things and I an honestly say now, I LOVE Camaros.

being the 5.3 is smaller cubes the cam more or less would act like a larger cam then it really is compared to a ls1. which isnt gonna hurt if its tuned
