alright well ive decided to fix my motor that way i can just sell it as a whole rather then dink around with selling it off individually.. heres wher ei need some help.

im trying to figure out what rocker arm studs i need to buy and what else is off in my valvetrain geometry.here are some specs of it

    cam - http://www.cranecams.com/?show=brows...tType=camshaft

    rocker arms

push rods are 7.750 in length and its all on a set of dart pro 1 aluminum heads.. the heads were bought assembled and i cant seem to figure out what springs exactly are in it..

i know i have to replace the studs b.c the ones in it that are 1.750's arer too short since the poly locks are only grabbing 1/4 inch at best of the stud.

so i guess my real questions are should i go with a 1.90 stud length and what parts should i change so i no longer have coil bind in the vlve springs so i can get this thing running good again and not have to worry about breaking the studs again

are you sure its in coil bind?
measure the clearance on one of the open valves

Get longer studs if need longer studs..that the simple answer.....now for the rest...honestly what you need to do is get yourself a pushrod length checker, a solid lifter and a light spring and check your geometery yourself. No one on here can answer a question like that without going through those steps first. None of it's rocket science. If you want some good reading, I would suggest the book written by the later great John Lingenfelter on "building SBC's" for some helpful hints.

by the looks of it when we first found out i broke two studs we took a pin and could not even stick it in between the coils when it was compressed.. therefore we were thinking that was the case was coil bind is to why the studs broke.

what do u mean measure the clearance?? between the coils

          you need a feeler gauge

well i figured that but the rocker arms are all off so it kind of makes it hard to figure out the clearance when compressed

ok put two back on checked and tightened and there is .035 or more clearance in between the outerspring... and it looks like the inside spring is not close to being compressed all the way either....

Well, you really should have a solid lifter to know for sure......also do you have true dual springs or is the inner just a dampener? Look for the retainer hitting the top of the guide also.

it really looks like dual springs to me b/c i can see a little gap in between the inner spring as well

you can also do it off car with a dial indicator if you know the lobe lift, rocker ratio.
I wouldn't recommend less than .060 at full lift
