  • LSx into thirdgen

Hey guys it has been a while,

I have just bought a 03 5.3L engine and I will be transplanting it into the T/A. There are some fuzzy areas for me so far that I need help with if anybody has any ideas or places to look help me out. One fuzzy area I have is the headers, I don't want to spend 800 bux on a set. Does anyone know of any alternatives? I am still looking at torque converters to hook the 700 up to the engine and I am talking with Cohn racing right now on some alternatives.

James, how is the clearance between the hood and the top of the motor for you? I am trying to decide if the truck accessories are going to fit underneath my cowl hood or not.

Hopefully I will be on more often through this process.

And another thing.....when I gun the motor, I want the whole world to think it's coming to an end.

the 5.3 has a slightly smaller bore but that is it. On another note I guess, can someone change the title to LSx if its that important. Also I guess I will be looking for the camaro/bird oil pan and pickup as the writeups I have seen so far indicate that it does not fit.

Don't do it, it doesn't work. Cease and desist.

I have lots of hood clearance with the f-body set-up.....but I am not familar with the truck accesories so I'm not sure how far they stick up. If you need me to take any measurements for you, just let me know Justin.

Wouldn't F-body or other accessories bolt up?

Personally, I'd just get a LS6 intake or something.

The engine sits pretty low, or it should, not sure if it'd be a problem...

He could do a lot of things with money, Justin is NOT looking to spend anymore than he has to on this project. I could help him out with a 4.6 Sohc swap.. hehehehe

Im looking at doing the same thing in my Camaro. Mainly bc you can get a 5.3 a lot cheaper than a LS1. But i have done some looking around and I found this guy that did the swap in his 89 camaro on thirdgen.org. Here is the link, i hope this helps you out.
