  • So what can you guys tell me...

What do you guys know about this car. It is running 8 seconds in the 1000' on a 355 and twin turbos but what else does anybody know? Does anybody know what kind of turbos he is running or anything else specific about his setup? Could I pull off a similiar setup with T3 turbos?

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=4

Also what would you think if I bought one of these kits and just sold / kept the cheap turbos but replaced them with the Garrett T3s?

Can't see the video (thanks Websense), but anything that runs in the 8s is gonna cost big $$$ to do...$40K+...especially if you want to do it more than once...

Well, thats the thing. Remember how I said the 355 would be my long term project right?

Thats exactly it. If I can work on it part by part for a few years I might be able to pull it off. I still don't know about what car to use, definitely not a Chevelle, thats out of the question. But I have the 355 and I will have one of the turbos in a few weeks and I found another one brand new for $425 OBO. If I can make do with an Ebay piping, BOV, wastegate, intercooler for $1000, get the 355 rebuilt using used parts for $5,000 I might be able to do it.

I was just trying to figure out exactly what this guy is running I mean is he running the motor with just boost or is he also using N20? It is these kinds of things I am trying to learn so I can go about planning and carrying out this 355 build. I will be dropping the block off for cleaning / honing this weekend hopefully.

I am just trying to find a good combination for this motor. It seems like this is a pretty good one so I am trying to see what all is involved.

O.K...once again, what is it you want to do?

Do you want a 8 second quarter mile car?

This guy could be running a single turbo, twins, meth, N2O, or just motor...or any combination thereof.

You really should pick a car before buying piping and accessories...each platform will be different.

Stop trying to "find a good combination for this motor" and pick a goal for what it is you want to achieve.

It's a small block Chevy...practically as versatile as duct tape...

Yes plus every little aspect of this motor will change depending on what you do.
You need to build a motor for what your going to do.
If you spray, if you run it N?A, if you turbo it......all thoes builds will be different.....if you want it to last for awhile.

Block should not be touched until you have the PISTONS your going to be using in it. No good engine builder will bore or hone a block without the pistons.

That being said you need to decide if its going to be a High compression N/A motor

or a Low compression forced induction motor. Both viable options but they take different parts.

I wouldn't worry about honing it now at all...just have it fluxed and checked for cracks/damage...and make them confirm bore diameter...you still don't really know if it is a 355 yet...
