do you mean on my v6 i still have in there? A buddy of mine suggested that too...but im not too friendly w/ nitrous which would rule it out as a DD. I also see myself committing to racing it only or limiting how daily i drive it eventually because i bought the car cheap initially as a project. I only paid 2500 for it with only 68000 miles. It itself is in great condition givin the age and being a michigan car, just now running into minor problems with it as it is currently a daily driver (posted in ignition board). It's had some custom body work on it to look nearly new, but i bought it primarily for the price and the project potential. So since I eventually want to race it only I figured that it would be practical just to start building towards that now, not make it a nicer DD and then later on commit.

I just wanted to know if would be cheaper (motor wise) to buy a completely built motor from the factory of what I want with warranty, or buy a stroker kit and all the other components I'm missing and build it myself. I know somebody near where I live who has already said he would do the engine build and swap for me for a very very reasonable price. All I basically have to do is purshase the parts and drop off the car and let him have at it. I've already discussed this topic w/ him and he said he would do it for the same price either way. I'm not really to worried about money as far as accessibity. I have a very well paying job and my bills are always taken care of. Fortunately for me money left over after paying bills each month is more than my monthly bills so affording the suckout is not an issue, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be smart with my money. I also haven't thrown out the possibility of converting the LT1 to an LT4 via heads and cam and whatever else needed.

Uhh.....i dunno.....like I said, I have a bareblock LT1 which is why I thought of stroking it now while it is down to bare bones, but if i can get what i want in the end cheaper buying new and fully built (with everything else i don't have for the motor I have now) version of what I want to build to for the same end result........

Also, keep in mind, bills should always come first, then mods. I know sometimes I find that very difficult to reconcile with.
Tis' the problem for all of us lol

ive givin this a lot of thought, and I think im just going to settle on selling the car and buying one with something close to what i want or better, and working from there. I really dont want to sell this car because of the deal i got for it and the shape the body is in and the low milage on the motor, but for what i paid for and what i can get for it help made my mind for me. In the long run ill spend less on something that i can ADD to, whereas something I need to REPLACE everything to handle what i want. I thinking of crossing over to a bird, only because my buddy has a maro and me having a bird that can beat him would make him more jealous than just another maro that can beat his. Im one of those that like to go my own direction anyways, plus i really like the ram air birds have.

Probably a good idea. We have built many cars, and the money is spent rather quickly. There is alot to upgrade such as transmission, converter, fuel system, suspension, rearend, ect ect. If you can find a partially done project and build from there you will end up saving some money.

Well I went out and bought a car. Its a 1981 z28(recently posted in cars for sale). It was a cheap enough deal that I can keep both cars. My 94 is my DD now. From the looks of it, there shouldn't be much to do to the 81 for racing. It is built perfectly for the sreet and strip which is what I wanted. It doesn't need much work on it besides cosmetic work. In a few months when I start racing it I will get the build specs on it, I think I might stroke it if it hasn't already been.

I can tell you personally i have done a v6 to v8 swap and there's a lot more work than you think, Right now your car is a bone stock v6 well first you have to change your whole front engine girdle, then buy a v8 motor, change trans, change rear end because a stock v6 rear end just won't hold, change whole wiring harness, computer witch later on are going to have to get burned a new chip for it or it won't run right. So these are the hassle's and problems that it takes to go through with this swap. If you do it right and take your time it can be a rewarding project but in no way fun.

So with that being said i say good luck to you

I know i was steering him in the right direction so no problems later, rebuilding a car might as well do it right the first time.

Posi is an option on the V6, but most are open diff. I need a posi for my V6.
