  • Planning on swapping LT1 for Ls1

    Don't get me wrong i love my Lt1, but i'm planning ahead. My car has 120,000 and it's still running hella strong but i was wondering what is EVERYTHING i would need to do an Lt1 swap with a Ls1. I would just want a stock Ls1 with maybe some bolt ons like headers or something. just looking for a wrecked car with the engine intact.

    SO what is everything i would need to do the swap, cuz i love my body style alot and would like to keep it. Let me know guys. You will be helping me out ALOT

    ~~~
    Is there a tutorial or somthing that details the complete swap from LT1 to LS1?
    I'm sure there are some forums out there such as ls1tech.com that have threads in them that entail all the info you are looking for.
    And another thing.....when I gun the motor, I want the whole world to think it's coming to an end.
          you could get a badass shortblock built for a blower.......slap yur heads and intake on....then buy a blower and slap that on for cheaper than any LS1 swap will run you
              Sell your engine to one of the guys on this board then take that cash and put it toward my LS1 so I can buy a 408ci stroker built for boost, its a triple win situation. Plus my engine is stock.....for now.
                As previously stated. LS1Tech.com has tons of info. And if you can't find anything, post up on there, those guys will jump all over it to help you. I gotta think it would be a little pricey though. I'm sure there is a laundry list of things like the fuel system, TC, exhaust, cooling system and more that will have to be modified or upgraded. But if you do it I may be interested in your LT1 depending on price.
                The other option is to throw some money into aftermarket parts for the LT1 and improve it too. Whatever you do, should be fun and make for a fun ride!
                  There is nothing wrong with the Lt1, i have an estimated 80,000 miles before she blows But the LS1 just has more power STOCK then the Lt1. Better gas mileage etc. I plan on keeping this car as long as i can. For right now I think i have done to the LT1 all i can do except for maybe swap out the headers. I love ls1tech and thats where i have been trying to get some info.
                  Detroit muscule! maybe i would buy it...how many miles. the only thing is that it's an automatic but with some more money it could be a manual. but maybe i'll look for a T-56 swap
                    But if somebody on here was interested in the motor let me know and i'll keep you in mind!
                    And i could build up a shortblock as well. Just gotta feel it out. I gotta start pricing this. Maybe some where they will have engine packages. If you guys see anything let me knwo!
                      I might be if you swap it out, depends on price and timing. I'm getting married in 6 weeks and have a baby on the way so those will be key.
                          cool, sounds good I highly doubt I will be doing much with my 80 before next year so that's fine. Gives me time to save up.
                            Yeah if I were to sell mine it'd be around next winter when I have enough saved up for a new motor but it'd be sweet if someone on the board took it off my hands. Its got just under 70K right now so probably around 80K next year.
                              I am interested, if no one else wants it. Nick may also interested.
