Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
i know theres that, i was talking the legal aspect of it. i dont think even the cowl would have been saveable on that 67... plus the ebay auction had pictures of the tag already removed.
laws vary by state. But in Michigan if the vin is removed you have commited a crime. In response to the 67, in michign you would have to get a state issued vin number and the title would state assembled vehicle. You could not leaglly just reattach the vin plate. Yes people do it, but it is still illegal.
Read Post #11 the last quote pretty well explaines this when talking about the truck cab.

Not that swapping VINs was one of my options but it is now forever out of my vocab, haha! NO need to go to jail!
But anyways it looks like I'll be doing the engine swap. The only reason I ask about the back half question is my dad seems to think that will be much easier, than swaping literally everything over to the 94.
I'm pretty sure we could do the engine swap in a weekend and then get the interior and rearend swapped the next day. (crossing fingers)
I wouldn't have to worry about swapping body parts because I'm just gonna stick with the LT1 front end (I like it better) and sell the 01 SS front clip. But I will be keeping the spoiler as I think they flow so well with the camaro.
So who is up for helping out with an engine swap!!! The car sounds amazing! The parts it has are:
LS6 Intake (stock for 01)
P/P TB
P/P MAF
PCV Filter
G5X4 Cam 109 LSA
Comp Cams Cual Springs
Comp Cams Titanium Retainers
TTS LT Headers
SLP LoudMouth Exhaust (I also have True Duals w/ magnflows)
3.73s
Rear Cover
Two-way Adjustable PHR
BMR Strut Tower Brace
Kenny Bell SFCs
Ebiach Lowerin Springs
LCA Relocation Brackets
A4 w/ Trans Go Valve Body
Yank PT4000 TC
Appearance:
Clear Corners
Brushed Face Billet Grill
Projection Fog Lights
4 Steelie Wheels with tires from 215 to 245, haha
He sold his SS wheels to buy some fiske FM5s and someone had dibs on the wheels
I also have some Fully port and polished heads that flow 315cfm intake and 296cfm exhaust at .600 that are waiting to go on! They are also milled quite a bit so I'm probably going to swap for a little smaller cam, plus the cam doesn't really like this cold weather.
Yeah it does but right now the idle is at 1100 rpms so it's not to bad, but when it starts up in this cold weather it fluxses (sp?) between 600 and 900 rpms and sounds bad! I'll have to get a vid, one so everyone can see how hard it got hit and two so everyone can hear it, haha!
lol a cam like that would send chills down my spine, in a good way! i love it when a car cant idle a consistent rpm, cause then you know its not intended to idle
in response to the vins aslong as you dont have a salvage title on eaither of them then just use the vin that the unibody is on... but when you start swapping parts make sure to keep all recipts so you can explain later...
ive rescued more then my share of vehicals from a junkyard usually doing just what your planning on... one bashed with a good drive train and one good roller... go with the roller way eaiser than chopping a unibody and trying to weld the rear back on...
although its not unsafe aslong as your driveline is still straight if its just the hatch or anything behind the rear axle and the axle is still in its proper location then its not super hard to chop the back and switch it... i did it on a grand prix but it was a good amount of work... one was a 91 one was a 95 very slight differance but enough to make it difficult i say time wise would end up about the same as well as cost but you also will have to fill and paint afterwards with the body fix..
and if the vehical you choose has a salvage title "been in a junkyard" you have to get it inspected before its street legal again they will want proof of ownership of all vehicals used for parts and recipts for any parts purchased. you then just get ahold of secratary of state they will give you a list of officers in the area certified to inspect the vehical after you are finnished.. that will cost 50-100 bucks but all they really care about is that the lights are working, seatbelts are working, air bags replaced, good exhaust, ect... the normal stuff you would get pulled over for... they will give you a new vin number on your title as a rebuilt salvage vehical but the vin number on the car will stay the same and will only be noticed when looked up on carfax or police computers...
just for value reason the roller would be a better bet because it wont show up on carfax as in an accident if you try to sell it later and you can just swap everything in it for the most part in your driveway without any special tools... just get some help to get the motor and trans installed then spend the next day or 2 to route the wire harness and all the other annoying little stuff..
eaither way good luck

I don't have to worry about salvage titles because both of them have clean titles. As far as value the SS was never reported to the insurance company so they don't know about it and there was no police report about it because I car-faxed the car and it said it was completely clean with no accidents.
So as far as the governement or insurance companies the car is clean.
But it's good to know that I am covered either way.
At the time of video taping I wasn't really thinking about reving it really, but when I get home tonight I'll get another video of it reving WOT this time. I can't put the the pedal much past 1/4 throttle before the tires break loose, haha!!!
