Today I went to get the LT1 a guy offered me for $500. Anyway, I got there and immediately I knew it wasnt what I was told. I dont know much about Gen2 or 3 engines, but I do know enough to know the variations they came as. The guy told me previously that it was a 95 Camaro engine, but at first glance I knew it couldnt be since the heads were rusted, aluminum doesnt rust so its not an f-body lt1, so I asked him what it was from again and this time he says Caprice. I ask him why he said it was from a Camaro and he claimed he didnt but it was by email so I know for a fact he did. the engine was about a 1/2 quart low on oil but it looked fairly clean, he said the engine has sat in his garage for 2 years. So I am debating the buy, and then told him i wasnt gonna give him $500 for it, that I'd give him $400. He said ok, and I paid him, loaded it up and took her home.
when I got it unloaded and bolted to engine stand I wrote down all its codes, and I'm hoping someone here can get me all the info on the engine from the codes. I have a hard time believing anything the guy said so I want to know exactly what I have before I start tearing her down for rebuild, and finding the missing brackets and such for accessories, the engine doesnt have any accessories on it. Here are the codes:
From in front of pass. head: V0603WHK
From back bellhousing flange: 5.7 LG, and below that SGT, and below that E194.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
thanks
