What is the advantage of running a lower thermostat? When my girl bought her car we got a new 160 for it. I don't know if it has a 180 or 195 in it now but would I be better leaving that in because it's a year round car for her? I know I could put the 160 in now and put the 180/195 in come October but I know I'd forget.

they basically make the engine run cooler. I wouldnt run a 160 in a year round car. it will take a lot longer for the car to warm up (hard on it) which will also make it take longer to get heat, and potentially never reach a temperature high enough to make good heat.
