I have a problem...when im idling at a stop there is a rattling/grinding sound coming from under the car. Around Christmas I ran over a large animal on the freeway...I had the car lifted and checked but nothing was really wrong. it is not an exhaust rattle, my clutch is fine, new trans mounts...the only thing I can think of is something loose with my driveshaft but honestly I have no idea...any suggestions/help to find out what the problem is?

Does it do it in gear or nuetral only? Does the engine shake at all does the exhaust move at all. If you arent moving and it is making the noise it has to be your exhaust or engine or trans give us more details to help you out.

It basically does it only when im in neutral...as soon as i go into gear the sound disapears. Its not the exhaust...its too much of a grinding sound then a rattle.

auto or maual trans. clutch in or out?
in an auto the flexplate could be cracked.
manual- bad pilot bearing or throw out bearing.
the driveshaft doesn't move when your stopped so thats not it

when the car is in nuteral does the sound change weather the clutch is depressed or not?
how are the engine mounts?
pop the hood, put it in drive or reverse, hold the brakes,
give it gas slowly until the tires begin to spin (on dirt) / driveline locks up.
have someone watch the engine from the each side of the car... look for the engine twisting... very easy to check.
