Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

In every test report of the f body when it's a manual they all talk about how bad the trans is (sloppy shifts is the biggest complaint) they all say it feels like shifting a trans full of jello. Most racers I know are useing an aftermarket since there are no current manuals that do well, and the decent older ones are all over priced.(of course if you drag race you don't want a manual since every time you shift you lose time, which is why the best trans for drag racing is a powerglide)
the stock shifter sucks, i know this because i had one. now i have a pro 5.0 and there is a HUGE difference between the two. I dont think anyone said manuals were better for racing. I would agree a powerglide/th400 is the best for that any day of the week.

t56s are supposed to be able to handle 450 at the wheels launching on slicks. he had a lemon.
3 of them? He's a trans builder in Canada, and sees them constantly, they can handle decent hp, but no torque (he said most of the guys with lots of broken ones are all under 400hp, but running motors with a ton of torque) I have yet to hear anyone that races and wins regularly tell me they like that trans (alot of the viper racers are switching theirs out, as it's considered the weak link on them) nobody makes a good factory manual, especially an od one. The magazines changed shifters, and still thought the trans felt sloppy, it's th way the gears mesh (it was designed for women to drive as well as men)

unless these people are putting more miles on their car making track passes than driving on the street i flat out dont believe it. The t56 is one of the best, if not the best manual trans to date. theres a reason they are STILL using them in the C6 vettes. I know of far more cars that have gotten powershifted to all hell and the first thing to go bad is usually a synchro. If something breaks out of torque its usually the input shaft, which can be remedied. If that guy broke three t56s with only 300 horsepower, I guess he doesnt have a clue how to build trans, because a stock t56 can handle those numbers no problem whatsoever.
it is nowhere near a strong trans. He's been building race trans longer than you've been alive. The only peopel I hear that like that trans are the 4th gen fbody kids (under 30) everyone else complains about it.Granted there is not a better one for a factory application (the good ones would raise the price of the car about 5 grand)they are breaking gears, and input shafts, a few guys are breaking the cases(torque will do that, input shaft is from doing hole shots and dumping the clutch for a big burn out that does no good) a bunch of people are using tremec, and still not holding up (a manual typically won't hold as much power as an auto)
no it isnt strong, for drag racing standards. It IS a strong trans though, im not going to argue it any further. You alone wont change my opinion, and im not going to change yours.
I just see too many people recommend a trans that is a street trans, and try and race with it, not a good thing. If you've never had a good one sure it's great, but if you had a real race trans there is no factory manual you'd want to drive again
