I need a new Trans Mount. . .

Took a gearhead friend of mine for a ride yesterday, he informed me that I have a bad trans mount, that's what's causing the vibrations and everything when I take off, as well as the horrible wheelhop when I spin the tires. . . I called up Advance Auto Parts today, and they politely informed me that they cannot get the 94 V6/T5 Camaro Trans Mounts. Where can I go to get them, I'd like to change them today, and I have to work at 4. . . Any help is appreciated.

I went to my local GM dealership/collision shop...and they ordered me one...you could probably find somewhere cheaper though, but it was more for convience for me.

The cheapest I've found so far is like $55. The last time I had to buy a tranny mount, it was $6. I just can't afford it right now. I'm trying to buy a sax, and I'm cutting all unnecessary expenses. Anybody know where I could get an upgraded one cheap? If I can get an upgraded one for the same price as the stock one, I'll go that route instead.

Also, I'm looking for a good price on some polyurethane bushings for the whole car, the thing handles like a . . . like a . . . I don't know anything that handles as bad as my car, but I think some polyurethane bushings and the lowering springs and shocks I'm going to buy will really help it out.

Is that out on the sales floor or do I have to ask for it? Is this the kind that you have? They told me I had a "Hydraulic Transmission Mount" and they don't even have it in stock. If you're sure this will fit and will perform better than the POS that's on there now, I'll pick one up after work.

That was my take on it too, but the u-loints have already been replaced to try and solve this problem, I replaced them with new ones when I installed my aluminum driveshaft. Had the problem since I bought the car, that didn't fix it. The trans mount is bad, and I would rather replace it with a high-performance one anyway. The problem did sort of become less evident after I re-tightened the bolts on the trans mount. I know that's what it is, because the shaking is pretty bad, it is accompanied by the banging of the exhaust on the trans crossmember, and if I spin the tires, I get some MAJOR wheelhop that usually ends when the trans bottoms out on the crossmember and bounces up and hits the trans tunnel under the car. . . lol My car is a mess, I just want to get it to handle better and not be such a peice for when the original owner comes to check it out this week. $145 isn't a bad price for the full polyurethane bushing kit, either, I'll be buying that soon. Hopefully I can install that and the lowering springs at the same time.

it should be easy to tell if the trans mount is the problem. a bad trans mount will make an M6 or M5 shifter wobble all over the place under torque, as well as bounce up and down when pulling a holeshot.

Guys, I know that the trans mount is bad. The trans rests on the bottom metal peice of the mount itself when the car is not running, I think that's a problem. Plus, the exhaust is attached to a mount on the trans, and under load, the shaking also includes the exhaust banging against the trans crossmember. I ordered the Polyurethane Trans Mount this evening after I got off work, it will be in on Tuesday morning, maybe I'll install it after my exams are over next week. I'll let you all know how it works out! I'm also going to order either my drop springs or my polyurethane suspension kit with my next check, and the following week, I'll order the other, then I'll take a day or two off of work and install it all. Anyone that wants to cruise out and help me is more than welcome to, I can provide a place to crash. I've got all the tools here, just need a little help . . . That would be pretty sweet. I can't wait, I'm so excited about this!

I just ordered a new one for $24.99 from Advance. . . I wish I would have known you had one sooner. . . Why weren't you pleased with it? Any particular negative characteristics that I should know about?
