Latley I have noticed that when i accelarate fast my car is shiting really hard. it doesn't not do it however if I do not accelarate fast but the second you push down on the gas it shifts hard, you can feel it and there is like a little pop noise.

If I understand what your saying it sounds like your tranny might be slipping a bit ( Im assuming you have a automatic). Whens the last time you had a trans service done? You might want to check your ATF dipstick.Originally posted by Xavierz28Latley I have noticed that when i accelarate fast my car is shiting really hard. it doesn't not do it however if I do not accelarate fast but the second you push down on the gas it shifts hard, you can feel it and there is like a little pop noise. The Chevy Camaro was built with a single purpose in mind which it executes flawlessly...Going very very fast in a straight line until your hair catches on fire.

When you say it shifts hard, do you mean it's kinda bogged and then really shifts or it's just shifting hard? I know when my EGR was going bad it would only act up when hitting the gas hard and work fine when it was a soft takeoff.- Brian Meissen

IM no auto trans expert but your putting alot more load on your trans when you put it under heavy acceleration ( the motor is generating more horsepower, reving higher and so on) so that could be why its only happening at high acceleration. A cross example for a manual trans would be that under normal driving condtions a O.E.M clutch is fine for a 400 + hp car but the second you start mashing on the thing the clutch will slip because it cannot handle the load the motor is putting on it, the same could be happening ( with the simular auto trans parts : i.e clutch packs) with your trans if something is starting to wear out. It could be something as simple as your ATF being low but if I remember correctly, in that case trans slippage would be caused by a lack of pressure from a lack of fluid and would occur when the car is stopped and then put under load ( almost as if you had a high stall torque converter installed) not from cruise to W.O.TOriginally posted by Xavierz28So the trans could be going bad even though it ahifts just fine as long as I don't accelerate fast. Even when I accelerate fast it still shifts just very hard. The Chevy Camaro was built with a single purpose in mind which it executes flawlessly...Going very very fast in a straight line until your hair catches on fire.

Thanks to everybody who responded. I took it to a mechanic a while ago and he told me it definately wasn't the transmission but he needed more time to see what was broke and i just didn't have the time to wait the time. He did say something was broke which more than likley is the tran mount some of you mentioned

thats what the pop noise probably was the tranny or something in the driveline hitting the underbody hard everytime it shifted... when i first got mine it had no trans mount left and banged into gear everytime.. felt the whole car just jerk when it shifted... easy to fix though like 3 or 4 bolts all you need is a jack half the time just jack up the trans unbolt the busted mount put the new one in drop the mount back down into the cross memeber and bolt it in... its like 35 bucks for a stock rubber setup and 40-60 for a little nicer polly one..Originally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But it's not exactly street legal, so keep it on the down low.

There's not too much service you can do to an automatic transmission by yourself. I would change the mount if it is torn. Then, might as well do a fluid flush as well if you can.
