So I'm swapping 5.3l into my camaro after the 5.7 met an early demise, and when I pulled the timing cover on my 5.3l junk yard motor, I was surprised to see a brand new oil pump, looked like it had been pulled out of the box, put on and ran for very few miles before the truck was rear ended,
But I still swapped that pump out, I put in a smelling high pressure pump, it came with a little green spring that said if I wanted to lower the pressure by 8 to 10 psi to install that spring, I didn't because a buddy said he has the same pump and it runs at 60psi while driving and just over 40 when at a hot idle..
My question is, will this pump run my pan dry? (Stock car oil pan) will it hurt anything in my motor? I mean they obviously make these pumps for a reason, but I want to know if my build it reason enough to use it,
I do plan on a bigger cam swap later on in the game, New lifters etc at that time too.. right now I just want the car running and driving..
