  • 4l60e rebuild components

I lost 3rd and 4th gear in my 4l60 last night on the way home from milan so I'm looking to rebuild the trans. The car is a H/C/I LS1 with a 4k stall. The only modifications to it were a trans go shift kit. I'm looking for a budget oriented rebuild that will have stronger than stock components. I plan on rebuilding it myself so I am just looking for the hardware.

have you ever rebuilt a trans? I dont think it would be hard but from what i understand its more about the little things that you get from experience

Ended up going with this setup http://www.trutechtrans.com/TT4L60E-...RE-Basket.html along with a Sonnax Smartshell. The company I purchased from has great tech support and I found a local member on LS1tech that has a lot of knowledge based on the 4l60e so I feel confident in building it right.

Rich thanks for the feedback. I actually just got back from the test drive and everything went well. If I decide to tear the trans apart again this winter to make it bullet proof, I will be in contact. Overall build ended up being pretty stout IMO. I did the sonnax smart shell, HD 2-3 shift valve, pump spring upgrade, etc. The only things I could really do is maybe upgrade the planetaries and the input and output shafts if I decide to go to crazy power levels in the future.
