  • Best LS twin disc clutch?

In preparation for my project, I'm about to begin researching clutches.

Basically I want something that drives as close to stock as possible while being able to hold 5-600rwhp. I want as light of a pedal as possible and I want smooth engagement, something my gf could get in and drive and not think twice about. It also needs to be reliable. This car will hopefully be a daily driver 6-7 months of the year. My power goals are pretty much set in stone, don't see the car ever going over 600rwhp and will likely be low-mid 5xx's. Budget isn't necessarily an issue, I will save longer if I have to in order to get the perfect solution.

Should I be looking at an LS9? McLeod?

Thanks. Any thoughts on the Mantic unit? Never heard of it but am reading good things.

LS9 is perfect and easy to drive (I had plenty of seat time in ZR1's when I was the brake development engineer). I have the LS7 in my car now and if I ever had problems, the plan was to upgrade to the LS9. Katech has a nice package with the slave cylinder, etc.

^^ which is what I was referring to in mine.

                RPS is a close second....

Many options out there. If it were me, i'd talk with some reputable vendors who carry multiple products and see what their take is on the units they use/sell. Good luck!

Thanks for the input so far.

Another option I discovered is the new LT1 clutch from the C7. Sounds like it has basically the same characteristics as the LS9 while being more durable and an overall better design. Cheaper too.

Good to know! Keep us posted. I will file that in my back-up plan.

Nice thing is the c7 clutch has a built in pedal stop. I debated between monsters lt1-sc and the McLeod txt. I've been happy with the rxt.

What made you decide on the RXT? Would you say it drives just like stock to the point someone wouldn't know it was an aftermarket clutch? I was looking at the LT1-S.

RXT has a very lite pedal feel. You wouldn't expect it to clamp like it does. I've had a few monster clutches over the years. The first one was great - I just wanted something that was proven over and over again.

The Lt1-sc is probably a good clutch- monster stands behind their products but after having the issues my 11" race disc and level 5 had - I didn't want the hassle, just something that works.

The RPS twin was on my list but it seems to be more suited to road racing than drag racing

Thanks. Yeah the only reason I will consider the LT1-s is because it uses the entire factory clutch setup, the only custom part made by monster is the flywheel from what I gather. Otherwise I agree, the lt1-sc uses their own discs and if I'm doing that I'll just go with McLeod because I know a bunch of people who can testify for their quality.
