Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Is there any benefit to using a poly trans mount over an OEM when the torque arm is relocated?
I have read this takes much of the stress off the trans and makes a poly mount unnecessary.
I've always run OEM in the back when going poly fronts. Had a poly/poly setup in the IROC (with UMI crossmember and torque arm) for a short while and the vibrations came up through the shifter pretty bad.
I went with a poly trans mount so the car would stop ripping the rubber ones in half. I am planning a relocator kit next year and I will definetly go back to the rubber when I do. Way to much vibration coming up thru the shifter with the poly mount.

I believe it was Kyle that experienced that same thing, polly up front and rubber in the back.
I have a polly mount that I am going to try in the spring, just to see what happens.
How many people have experience ripping to stock rubber motor/trans mounts? I currently have rubber engine mounts and a poly trans mount on a fairly rowdy engine. Get a little more vibration through the shifter than I'd like. If I switch to rubber for the trans too, am I going to be ripping through them on a regular basis? T56 btw.
Poly trans mount and i havent noticed any vibrations at all. Even if it did vibrate i think id rather have that than the shifter bouncing all over the place like it did with the stock mount.

If you're interested John, I've got a poly mount sitting on the bench if you decide you want one.

o·vr·kill [oh-ver-kil]1. an excess of what is required or suitable, as because of zeal or misjudgment.
Just because we are talking about polly mounts Ill throw this out there.
When ordering the polly motor inserts from your local part store they will come up as the same. They are not. The drivers side is different than the passenger side and Ten bux more. Even further you need to call the manufacturer and get the correct part number to order it. It was listed in auto zones data base if you had the #, but wouldn't come up from enntering the cars info. It just showed the pas as for both sides.
With the polly inserts and trans mount the car shifts hard. It also transmits the shaking of my missing engine really well. I am trying to withold my judgement until I can solve the misfire, but so far I am not to thrilled with the polly mounts.
I have been running an oem rubber trans mount on my T56 for a few years now with the supercharger and sticky r-compound tires...haven't ripped it apart yet...just saying. I think once the rubber gets old and brittle is when they are more likely to rip apart.
