  • 4L60E swap

I have a 97 4L60E trans. It is in a V6 car at the moment. Will this trans work in an LT1 or LS1 car? I have done some research and that suggests it will but I want to be sure. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Not interchangable, however the V-6 unit has some interchangable internal components.
Also Lt1 and Ls1 transmission are not interchangable.

Not going to work, as Rich said. V6 had 60° bellhousing.

I think 98 and up went to the two piece, meaning removable bellhousing. Still, different clutch packs and other internal parts between the v6/v8.

I did buy a 2004 inline 6 Trailblazer 4x4 trans and converted it for my LS1. Had 4 pinion planetaries but it's holding up behind a cammed 6.0, but it had a nice TCI clutch pack/rebuild kit installed prior to purchase. I did add some aftermarket hardware.

LT1 trans can physically work with LS1 cars if the right setup is used. Crank spacers and elongating the torque converter holes on the flywheel, etc. But yes, not bolt and go.
