Hi Mike, thank you for your reply. Was that in english. In other words....wut?

Its pretty much stock, ran ok before the rotor/opti crapped out. Only thing Ive done is the headers, o2's are the stock ones too.

Go slow and be gentle, Im not completely current on all the fancy new technology/lingo. thanks.

MAF sensor = mass air flow sensor. It's in the air intake piping, it measures the amount of air coming into the engine.

WBo2 sensor = wide band oxygen sensor. Accurately measures air to fuel ratio in the exhaust from ~10:1 up to ~18:1

SD = speed density. Speed density doesn't use the MAF to calculate fuel requirements, it's all based on MAP (manifold absolute pressure), throttle position, and tables within the tune.

Standard o2 sensors (narrow band or NBo2) are not at higher rpm/throttle input. When the engine goes into power enrichment (PE mode) the o2's no longer matter. Some will trigger a lean code though, meaning the o2 voltages hold below a .XXX volts for X amount of time.

Edit: low o2 voltage is lean, high is rich. I always seem to mix the two when I don't have a laptop in front of me while datalogging

ok thanks Mike. It will take me some time to figure out what to do with the provided info. I will check the maf the way you suggested next opportunity I get.

Hook a scanner to it and pull codes. Or a data logger and put the data.

            Sorry to hijack, Stephen

I think I said before the LS7 are direct replacements for the LT1, same lifter bore but might be slightly taller. Doesn't matter if they are, proper preloading will make up for the difference.

And if you get a chance to datalog, post the file. I'll gladly take a look.

No problem there buddy, i enjoyed reading all of it...actually brought up a question i have regarding my MAF....With my car running, i unplugged the sensor and it immediately killed my motor.....is this the norm or do i have a bad MAF?

Also, i have the LT1 scanner softwarte and im going to hook it to my laptop and pull the data...i will post it. Thanks!
              Thanks,
              Stephen

Wish I woulda known that. Soon as it warms up a little I will run some kinda diagnostic program on the car. Too friken cold out there right now for that. I have a cord fro my laptop and a couple different programs. I have the free one from the ls1lt1 site and the Red Devil River that came with the cord. will either of these work?

Mike: what can I expect the car to do with the maf unplugged? and what are the behaviours proving?

When unplugging the MAF the car assumes the MAF failed and reverts to Speed Density Mode.
Car should run with MAF unplugged.

yep, it did, not as well, but it ran.
I was going to try to load a data log to this but it comes out as an excel spread sheet and I cant figure out how to copy it.

So any idea why my car would just flat out die when the MAF is unplugged?
                        Thanks,

Mine tried to die, but caught itself. Did you try it more than once?

ALT key + Print screen key, then paste in paint. Save as .JPG

Or use the Snipping Tool utility if you have win7+
