Yep, lifters are all swapped out. I get an occasional tapping for a second or two at start up, then all is quiet. However, I am having other issues with the car that prevent me from running it to much. I have adjusted them3 times to 3/4 of a turn preload and still have a misfire. The whole engine shakes under load. I am going to go to 1/2 a turn of preload and adjust them running next time. Its all I can think to try next.

I adjusted mine with the engine off and they were whacked when it was running.
So what I do is tighten them all down.
Start the engine, one at a time, back it off till it clicks. Slowly tighten till clicking stops, then 3/4 more. Repeat for each rocker.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. Yupp they don't make LT1 lifters anymore so the replacement is LS7 lifters.
Which work great unless youre going race engine.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I need to get one of thosesigpicOriginally posted by ryanwarby01Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!

I've done it this way the last time too. Still has a misfire. And I don't know why.Originally posted by Fox Slaughter View PostI adjusted mine with the engine off and they were whacked when it was running.

Then I'd probably look at something else causing the misfire.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I need to get one of thosesigpicOriginally posted by ryanwarby01Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!

Certainly, thats why Im stumped. Everything is new, plugs, wires, optispark, cap, rotor. Ive checked the wires to make sure they are seated and tight, they are not burned or arching. The plugs all look ok, maybe a bit lean but they appear to be firing. I have run out of ideas.

Clean the MAF or borrow a known good unit. Hell, unplug it and see what it doesOriginally posted by zeeman View PostCertainly, thats why Im stumped. Should put it into SD mode, might want to be careful w/ aftermarket bolt ons if you don't have a WBo2 sensor.
I'd have to read up on LT1, but LS1 (1998 at least) will base fuel solely on the MAF above 4000 rpm and anything below is a VE table and MAF calculation.
