Transmission interchangability question.

I have a chance at a trans am convertible that has a built LT1 motor, 3.55 gears but a bad tranny for $1800. I have two spare auto trannys from V6 camaros. My question is are they interchangeable and bolt right up ?

Short answer, no.

Long answer, could be made to work, but not worth your time. The trans would have to be torn down, pump, input shaft and several other goodies changed, you would need a different converter as the v6 trans cars use a 3800 fwd style converter, AND when its all said and done it will never be as strong because they are 1 clutch pack short of the v8 trans.

Thanks guys, if I can get it for the right price i may pull the motor and drop in the entire V6 assembly and off the car.

Note that the LT1 and LS1 4l60e transmissions are not interchangeable, neither are the converters.
