4le80 oil pan

I was thinking about getting a bigger oil pan for the 4le60, and was wondering if i'd have any issues with just putting on an 4le80 trans oil pan. i know the pan is an inch bigger so would i need a 4le80 pick up for the added oil compasity as well as a bigger filter? I also want to drill a hole in it and place the oil temp sensor for my oil cooler set up.

Has anyone else tryed this with any luck? did it scrap with the pan being an inch bigger?

That's what he's wanting to do - get a deeper pan (the 4L80e) and bolt it to his 4l60e.

They make deep pans specifically FOR 4L60Es...Derale Doorman and B&M all make one...but people have had clearance issues with all the above, some catastrophic. I see putting a "deep pan" on a 4L60 as kind of a waste. Run an adequate cooler, keep the fluids fresh, run a good filter, etc. Don't go dumping money into something that can let go at anytime...

without a lot of ground clearance on our cars, a deeper pan can be iffy. You can use the deeper pan with the specific filter for it, but unless you're noticing problems with fluid in your trans, its probably not needed.

Just get a truck pan and pick up. They hold more fluid than a car pan.

A 4L80 pan wont bolt up to a 4L60. The bolt pattern is different...

I forgot that option. Alot of guys go this route too...you can only polish a turd so much. If you're making more then stock power on a stockish 4L60E you're gonna have problems, not a WHOLE lot you can do to prolong it.

I found a pan for 25 bucks.. guy had it on his stock le60.. I got under the car last night and the 60 pan is 2.5inch from the flange to the bottom of the pan. The le80 was an inch deeper. With that inch it still tucked up higher then my trans tunnel brace. I didn't think about checking bolt patterns I though it was all pretty much the same. I have a b&m oiler cooler set up putting in to the car. But I want more fluided to be able to keep it running cooler. Will I have any issues trying to pick up oil out of the bottom of the pan with bit being deeper?

deep pan is a must. more for capacity than cooling. Many including me suck the pan dry at high rpm
