  • T-56 - can't get trans off housing. Tips/Tricks?

I have everything torn down and removed the 8 bolts holding the trans to the bellhousing. For the life of me, I cannot get the trans to budge from the bellhousing. I've tried with it back up in it's installed position, tried with it dangling and the motor mounts holding it up. Wiggled up and down, left and right.

I counted 4 times, and I do have 8 bolts laying there...what am I missing/doing wrong? Any tips or tricks?

Yea we had a hell of a time with the dowels when we took mine out. Very corroded.

Cool, I'll look for the slots.

I did eventually get the trans off, but the bellhousing is stuck to the engine. I'll work on that tomorrow.

Yupp pry on it and hit with a hammer and a piece of wood.

Steel pins with an aluminum housing.

Those two materials don't like each other.

Make sure your clutch fork is pulled down too. That will keep it from releasing.
